Itsmy m.itsmy.com Mobile social network Itsmy has reinvented itself to emphasize mobile web based games. The first thing you see when you visit the site now is a page promoting the online games which include Celebrity Fame Game, Criminal Pizza, Love Hating Squirrels and The Cowsnatchers Trilogy. The games all have a social element, some are multi-player and all have online high scores. There are over 80 games in all and they are simple enough in their coding and design to work on virtually any phone with a browser.
Itsmy hasn't given up on social networking either, in addition to games, the site has all the typical mobile social features including profiles, blogs and guest-books, chat rooms, forums and private messaging.

Created by two Hollywood screenwriters a little over a year ago the site is a minor Internet sensation with over 15 million monthly visitors. East Asian Times www.eastasiantimes.com The East Asian Times is a strange site. The top of each page carries a header image with the words "Ebeling Heffernan", which is the name of a financial analytics and consulting company specializing in Asian investments. I though it was an ad banner but clicking just goes to the East Asian Times home page.
The site's FAQ page refers to the site as The Phuket Sun with no mention the East Asian Times or Ebeling Heffernan.
Confusing branding aside, the site is a pretty good Asian news site that carries page after page of headline stories. The stories are are arranged chronologically and you can go back in time almost indefinitely,"river of news" style by clinking a "Next Page" link.

SPB TV tv.spb.com/web/ SPB TV, the popular free streaming TV app for iPhone, Android, Symbian, BlackBerry, Windows Mobile and WebOS now has a mobile web version. It should work on most smartphones that support Javascript, RTSP and 2320x240 mpeg4 videos. The site and videos worked well on an HTC Magic Android phone and a Samsung Wave Bada device. The site also looked good and the navigation was faultless on my Nokia N95 but only the audio portion of the videos would play. SPB TV offers 150 free TV channels from 20 countries including the the English editions of France TV, AFP News and China's CCTV plus Bloomberg and dozens of local US TV stations. Encyclopedia Britannica m.eb.com Not to be outdone by WikiPedia, the venerable Encyclopedia Britannica now has a mobile site. The search works well and the well written articles cover topics in considerable depth and are nicely organized for mobile with navigational links to sections of the longer articles.Content seems a little on the thin side though. I couldn't find many of the topics I searched for including "Nokia", "nonogram" and "PHP", all of which have extensive entries in Wikipedia. Pehaps the worst thing about Britannica' site it that it doesn't recognize Opera Mini has a mobile browser and blocks it from accessing the site! Source Taptu Touch Web Report (PDF).

TitanTV m.titantv.com Television program listing and guide. The program grids are well designed and look good on most phones.
However the mobile version of TitanTV isn't usable without a PC as it requires an account that can only be set up on the desktop site at www.titantv.com. Even after you have an account you can't change the listings to a different city or timezone without using the desktop site.
Mobile sites that require you to use a PC to setup effectively discourage anyone who discovers the site while browsing on the phone from using it. Not to mention that there are many mobile web users who don't have a computer.

TweetGo www.tweetgo.net A new "touch web" optimized Twitter client. While I like the attractive dark theme, on my Android phones (Sapphire and Evo) text doesn't wrap properly and horizontal scrolling is required unless I zoom out to a point where the text is unreadably tiny. This even happens on the Evo's 480 px wide screen! I'm guessing that TweetGo only works well on the iPhone.

Dolce & Gabbana's Mobile Web Site Always Wears Black
Italian luxury fashion house Dolce & Gabbana has created a high style mobile web site showcasing their high fashion Dolce&Gabbana and casual D&G brands. Dressed in Dolce & Gabbana's signature black, the site has fashion news, event listings, down-loadable runway videos and free wallpapers. The site users browser detection and adapts well to most devices. For those rare cases where the site doesn't detect the phone's screen size correctly there is a "Change Resolution" drop-down that allows the user to change the site's width to fit screens ranging from 120 to 320 px wide.
